II/353 Velký Beranov - bypass opens to traffic

October 30, 2020

The most expensive road construction in the history of the Vysočina Region opens to traffic on the dot exactly according to the schedule set up last spring.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the commissioning of the bypass was without fanfare, in silence. The work worth CZK 800M is the most expensive construction project in the history of the Vysočina Region. So far, the bypass is in preliminary use, finishing work will take another half a year.

The bypass connects II/602 road leading from Jihlava to Měřín and the II/353 one to the D1 motorway.

"The capacity of the unsatisfactory transport connection of the regional city of Jihlava with the D1 motoway will be increased and a substantial part of transit and passenger traffic will be diverted from the Nové Domky and Velký Beranov through roads," says Jitka Svatošová, a spokeswoman for the regional office adding that there were over 12 K cars crossing the municipalities every day.

The bypass route is over four kilometers long and icludes five bridges, out of which the longest one reaches one hundred and forty meters. A few days ago, trucks loaded with stones stood on it during a load test.

According to the governor's office, there are safe turning lanes at intersections, the entire bypass with a road width of twice three and a half meters is clearly arranged. Other interesting technical details are, for example, an underground rainwater drainage tank serving for a part of the project and a drainage system in general, steep embankments and retaining walls.

The construction of the Velký Beranov bypass is appreciated by the mayor of the municipality Milan Pulicar too. According to him, cooperation with the region and construction companies is great. "I am absolutely enthused. The approach of the Vysočina Region as well as the companies Colas and Eurovia and their site managers, that is a top-level cooperation," Pulicar said for the Deník.

Total value of the contract: 313 121 073 CZK excluding VAT
