D48 Rybí – Flyover Rychaltice motorway - opening to traffic
December 16, 2020
On December 15th, 2020, Directorate of roads and motorways opens to traffic the new motorway section D48 Rybí – Flyover Rychaltice.
„The new motorway section D48 Rybí - Flyover Rychaltice was built by the reconstruction of the I/48 road which was operated as a directionally undivided four-lane with an unsatisfactory width arrangement. The reconstruction was necessary mainly to increase traffic safety, as it was a road section with a high number of accidents, but also to increase driving comfort and reduce travel times. As part of the project, the road was expanded to the standard motorway category, a new roadway was constructed in both lanes and the middle dividing lane was added. Barriers of a higher retention level were installed and the horizontal and vertical traffic markings were modified. This gave rise to a full-fledged motorway section", introduced the new motorway section Radek Mátl, Directorate of Roads and Motorways General Director. Within the Moravian-Silesian Region, the D48 motorway forms an important traffic artery oriented to the west-east. It is a road that connects the southern part of the Moravian-Silesian region with Central Moravia and Poland. The D48 motorway is part of the trans-European road network TEN-T and the international road E462 Brno - Český Těšín - Krakow.
