D1 Modernization - Removal of a bridge on km 107
July 2, 2013
The next phase of the construction was the closure of the right lane 7-12 June 2013, which also included the complete closure of the D1 highway for the first time in its history.
The closure was scheduled for 12 hours. During the whole closure, which proceeded from 8 p.m. on 8 June 2013 until 9:20 a.m. on 9 June, object SO 221 was demolished. The flyover was a segmented pre-stressed bridge with monolithic ledges. The demolition was carried out using hydraulic hammers and a mechanism with hydraulic scissors. Cutting of the support structure in half at about 1 a.m. caused the gradual slide of the structure into a prepared gravel bed, which served as protection of the concrete surface of the road. The bridge was then cut into pieces, concrete parts from the left lane were transported and debris from the road surface were removed. After implementation of the safety devices, traffic in the first half of the highway was restored in line with the continuing traffic measures. Work on the demolition of the bridge continued with the other half of the bridge, under the continued closure of the right lane. Everything was achieved without great complications and traffic was restored with a small delay at 9:20 a.m.
