History

COLAS CZ, a.s. follows the long tradition and experience of the companies Silnice Jihlava, Silnice Znojmo and Silniční stavitelství Praha, which date back to pre-war state road engineering.

1994
  • the French company COLAS SA becomes the majority owner of all of the above-mentioned companies
1997
  • ASTECH, s.r.o. - establishment of the company, which sells and applies modified asphalts and other special asphalt products used in road engineering with the application of the latest technologies
2001
  • 31 January 2011 – merger of Silnice Jihlava, Silnice Znojmo and Silniční stavitelství Praha with COLAS CZ a.s.
 
  • within a year, COLAS CZ obtains 100% ownership in SANGREEN, spol. s r.o. (established in 1990), which is one of the leading companies in the rehabilitation of bridges and other concrete and steel structures and objects.
  • COLAS CZ owns one-third of Obalovna Bradlec, s.r.o. (established in 1998), which is based in Mladá Boleslav.
2002
  • 1 January 2002 – new organizational structure – Agency South is established by merging of construction agencies in Jihlava and Znojmo
  • Agency North consists of construction agencies in Prague and Hradec Králové
  • production of crushed aggregate is concentrated in the Quarries Agency
2005
  • acquisition of Kamenolom Císařský a.s. (established in 1994) by COLAS SA and its integration into the COLAS group as an affiliated company
2006
  • new acquisitionČermák a Hrachovec, a.s. involved in repairs, reconstruction and also the construction of new constructions in the area of water supply and sewerage lines, especially in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region
 
  • after purchasing shares from minority shareholders, the parent company COLAS SA owns 100 % of COLAS CZ, a.s.
 
  • annual production of 2 million tonnes is reached for the first time
2008
  • 1 October 2008 – merger of ASTECH, s.r.o. with COLAS, CZ a.s. ASTECH is still involved in the latest technologies, production and application of hot asphalt mixtures and modified bitumen binders for road engineering
2012
  • merger of Císařský Kamenolom with COLAS CZ. It becomes part of the Quarries Agency
2013
  • with the acquisition of PRAKAN a.s., the COLAS group expands its portfolio into the area of water management facilities

  • COLAS SA sells shares corresponding to 100% stake in Čermák a Hrachovec a.s. and Prakan a.s.
  • merger of SANGREEN, spol. s .r.o. with COLAS CZ, a.s.
2018
  • Merger of the company SOMARO spol. s.r.o. to COLAS CZ, a.s.
2020
  • the company COLAS CZ, a.s. bought the company Silnice Žáček s.r.o.
  • Merger of the company Silnice Horšovský Týn a.s. to COLAS CZ, a.s.

Biodiversity, the core theme of Colas Environment Day

On Thursday, June 9, Colas is holding its 2nd Environment Day across all its locations worldwide. This year, the event is dedicated to biodiversity, a major challenge for the Group, which launched a low-carbon and biodiversity strategy in 2020 to help preserve the planet.

Merger announcement - COLAS CZ, a.s. and Silnice Žáček, s.r.o. have merged

As of 31 May 2022, the merger of Silnice Žáček s.r.o., as the merging entity dissolved without liquidation, and COLAS CZ a.s., as the surviving entity, became effective.

Colas joins the #StOpE initiative to end everyday sexism in the workplace

On January 25, 2022, the Colas Group, represented by Frédéric Gardès, Chairman and CEO, joined #StOpE, an initiative dedicated to combatting so-called “everyday” sexism in the workplace. Colas is the first company in the construction sector to sign on to the program.

Colas renews its commitment to road safety

On Wednesday, December 8, Frédéric Gardès, Chairman and CEO of Colas, signed the "Seven Commitments for a Safer Road" with Marie Gautier-Melleray, France’s Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety. Over the last 24 years, Colas has been acting in partnership with public authorities to improve road safety, and will continue to play a strong role in the future with the new agreement.

Kácov bridge

The Kácov bridge project involves the construction of a new three-span road bridge with a total length of approximately 75 m over the Sázava River. COLAS CZ built the new bridge to replace the existing structure, which is no longer suitable due to poor condition, limited load capacity and unsuitable geometric parameters for traffic crossing.
