General Patton´s Bridge in Plzeň

On May 2nd, 1973, a new bridge, today General Patton´s Bridge, over the river Mže, was put into operation. The bridge helped divert the transit traffic from the square in the direction of Karlovy Vary and Žatec.

Construction period: 2017/04 - 2019/06
Total value of the contract: 138 212 011 CZK excluding VAT

From the Main Post Office towards the Pod Záhorskem street at the outskirts of Lochotín, a new tram track situated in the middle of the pavement was laid resulting in a new cloverleaf. This established the basis for the development of the tram network on the projected housing estate Severní předměstí (the Northern Suburbs).

The aim of the whole project is a complete reconstruction of bridges including the completion of the full replacement of equipment, rehabilitation of substructure and load-bearing structure. In addition, a completely new cache composite board will be made and a new tram track will be laid on the bridge. Compared to the current state, the roadway will be extended by one lane, in the direction of Lochotín-town. Reconstruction of pavements on the bridge, beachhead as well as restoration of stairs near abutments forms part of the project. The project also involves relocation of cables of transport companies and other entities, overhead power lines and pipelines, incl. a new paired public lighting system.
